The Crisis Pregnancy Center, Inc. was established in 1985 as a 501(c)(3) corporation and was started by a group of pro-life men and women who desired to help women choose life for their babies. The center has been opened steadily since 1990. The name was changed in 2001 to the Pregnancy Care Center of Tiftarea. This organization has been and continues to be funded primarily by churches, individuals, and a few businesses in Tifton and the surrounding areas.
In 2007, the Pregnancy Care Center began to operate with full-time hours on Mondays through Fridays. This allowed the ministry to reach out in a greater way to the community. In 2009, we began to work with Focus on the Family and NIFLA (National Institute of Family and Life Advocates) to help us become a medical clinic. We completed this process in May, 2010. We now offer free ultrasounds to women facing an unplanned pregnancy and the name of our medical clinic is Women’s First Choice Medical Center. This has been an amazing opportunity for each woman to see life inside their womb.
In October, 2010, we recognized the need for reaching more abortion at-risk women in our community. Many call to ask questions but do not keep their appointments. We began working on a plan that developed and maintained accurate and relevant service to women that think they need an abortion. Since 2010, this optimized program has helped us reach and serve those who are seriously considering abortion. As their unplanned pregnancy service provider, our desire is to be their first stop so that they can see all their options and then make an informed decision. We desire to reach the right women (abortion-minded), at the right time (pregnant), and serve them in the right way (relevant services) for the greatest possible gain on behalf of patients, babies, staff, donors, the organization, the community, and God. As we share relevant information for each patient’s personal situation, ultimately, we are thankful that we have the opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus.
